Swim the Big Blue – The man behind this Incredible Journey
I’m Ben, 36, and with a background of military, police and Psychology I am taking my love of water a step-further. The 1st November 2015 will see me dive into The Atlantic Ocean, to commence a 2,000 mile swim from Africa to Brazil; the first full Atlantic swim, every single mile, arriving in time for The Olympics in 2016.
When people ask why am I doing this, I am never sure how to answer but here is why I am doing it. First, I love anything water based, from scuba and free-diving to charity swims. I’m not a professional athlete but I train like one, I am an ordinary guy achieving something extraordinary and am lucky to be here today as I died on being born and drowned when I was five, yet this water incident, had the reverse effect. This is where my love of water, my instinct, was born. So I thought, if I can achieve something incredible to see how far I can push myself and conduct human and marine research, raise money for my charities and to inspire everyone to achieve their best, no matter how hard it seems, then I should just get on with it. So here we are today – chasing down my dream, and showing that nothing is impossible!
